Topology of Algebraic Varieties

📅 25–30 October 2027 📍 Westlake University, Hangzhou 🎓 3 mini-courses · 14 talks ✉️ By invitation only

Overview

This workshop brings together researchers in algebraic geometry, geometric topology, arithmetic geometry, and Hodge theory to explore the rich interactions between non-abelian Hodge theory and the topology and arithmetic of algebraic varieties. The focus will be on recent advances concerning mapping class groups, fundamental groups of algebraic varieties, Simpson’s conjecture, and the Shafarevich conjecture.

The program is designed to leave generous time for discussions and informal exchange. On a typical day, there will be three research talks together with one mini-course lectures (approximately five hours of scientific activities). Wednesday and Saturday afternoons are kept free for discussions or for visiting the city.
